General Manager
(Freight Management)

We are seeking an experienced full-time freight professional, at General Manager level, with a commercial focus who will like to further their career in our Company. The ideal candidate, already based and operating in Lagos, Nigeria, will report directly to the Head of the Company. The position will be a hybrid of operations and business development supported by the Company. The ideal candidate, a strong relationship builder and self-starter, will be responsible for developing the Freight Management Division of our Company with additional operations and administration staff.

 

Required skills:

Business Development; Air, Sea & Land Freight; Cross Platform Inter-Relationships; Import and Export Logistics; Customs Brokerage and Regulations; Multi-Lingua.

 

You:

Have the right educational qualifications for the role.

Have good operational and management experience, primarily air and sea freight.

Have the strength to operate and travel nationwide.

Are a multi-tasker and able to handle multiple projects at the same time, excellent time management skills and ability to make good decisions using the information available to you at the time (problem solving skills related to customs clearances ideal).

Are good with numbers and know how to make money from client freight shipments and have experience of introducing innovative ideas to increase margins.

Are a self-starter, capable of working independently but happy to accept supervision when appropriate.

Are a team player with good skills in building successful and productive relationships with both clients and colleagues.

Are a good communicator with an excellent telephone manner.

Have a good network of contacts with whom new business can be developed. Also, the ability to identify new opportunities with existing clients and develop new clients to generate ongoing additional business.

Have ability to use the Microsoft Office programmes.

Have experience of using freight management IT system.

 

The role:

This is a full-time permanent position. Reports to the Head of the Company.

 

Salary:

We offer generous remuneration package, subject to experience and qualifications (equity growth and stock options available).
